Muddy Feelings

I wish for greater moral compass
To guide me through a barren place.
My heart knows nothing, for it sits still;
My empathy is a psychotic disgrace.

I wish—I wish for love like yours,
The one for which you hold me true.
My heart will ache with no good reason;
I want to love, to love for you.

I wish for warmth, for laughter's glow,
To feel the surge of love’s sweet flow.
But emptiness wraps my heart so tight,
And my expression fades to shades of night.

So God, oh God, if you exist,
My heart needs saving, veiled in mist.
Allow for affection within this space,
And fill my heart with love’s embrace.
